This is the single most confusing part of ordering at Chicken Salad Chick, and it is the reason people either overspend or come home with far less food than they expected. Nobody explains it clearly — including the menu board — so here it is properly.
There are three sizes of the same thing. Understanding the relationship between them tells you exactly which one to buy.

The finding that matters
A large Quick Chick costs roughly $0.94 per ounce. A single scoop costs roughly $1.37 per ounce — about 46% more for the same food. If you are buying for two or more people, or you will happily eat it again within three days, the large container is the correct answer almost every time.
Which size should you actually buy?
Buy a meal if…
You are eating now, on your own, and you want a side and a drink with it. At roughly $10.29 the Scoop Meal bundles three things that would cost about $11.30 separately. That is the correct order for a normal lunch.
Buy a small Quick Chick if…
You want chicken salad at home tomorrow, for one person, and you do not want leftovers sitting in the fridge for four days. Eight ounces is two decent sandwiches.
Buy a large Quick Chick if…
There are two or more of you, or you are meal-prepping. Sixteen ounces plus a loaf of bread from the same counter feeds a family dinner for roughly $23 — against about $41 for four Scoop Meals. This is the biggest saving available on the entire menu and almost nobody mentions it.
Move to catering if…
You are feeding ten or more. Chicken salad bowls that serve 10–12 run about $59.99, which is roughly $5 a head — better again than buying multiple large containers.
What the sizes mean for calories
Portion confusion is also why calorie figures across the internet disagree so violently for this chain. A source quoting “450 calories” and one quoting “1,600 calories” for Sassy Scotty are both right — one is describing a scoop, the other a large container.
Calories scale with size
| Format | Approx. calories |
|---|---|
| Single scoop (4 oz) | 340 – 460 |
| Small Quick Chick (8 oz) | 680 – 920 |
| Large Quick Chick (16 oz) | 1,360 – 1,840 |

A large Quick Chick is not a serving. It is four servings in one container. Nobody eats one in a sitting, and any calorie figure quoted against the container rather than the scoop is technically accurate and practically misleading. Our nutrition guide always quotes per-scoop figures and says so.
How long a Quick Chick keeps
If you are buying the large container, this matters. Treat it as any fresh mayonnaise-based deli salad: three to five days refrigerated at or below 40 °F (4 °C), sealed, and always defer to any date printed on the lid.
Flavors containing fresh fruit or fresh herbs — Fruity Fran, Fancy Nancy, Lauryn's Lemon Basil — soften and release water sooner than the plain savory ones. If you are buying a large container specifically to eat across the week, Classic Carol, Dixie Chick or Sassy Scotty hold up best.
Do not freeze it
Mayonnaise-based salads split when thawed — the emulsion breaks and you get watery, grainy chicken. Celery, grapes and apple turn to mush on top of that. If you have over-ordered, portion it into sandwiches and eat it within the fridge window instead.
Portion size questions
How many ounces is a Chicken Salad Chick scoop?
Approximately 4 ounces. That is the standard serving used inside a sandwich, on a bed of lettuce, or as a single a la carte scoop.
How big is a large Quick Chick?
About 16 ounces — roughly four scoops. It comfortably feeds two to three people as sandwiches, or one person across several days as fridge stock. A small Quick Chick is about 8 oz, or two scoops.
Which size is the best value at Chicken Salad Chick?
The large Quick Chick, by a wide margin. At roughly $14.99 for about 16 oz you are paying around $0.94 per ounce. A single scoop at $5.49 for 4 oz works out to about $1.37 per ounce — roughly 46% more. If you are buying for more than one person, or you will eat it again this week, the large container wins.
How many people does a large Quick Chick feed?
Two to three people as sandwiches, or four as part of a spread with sides and bread. If you are feeding more than four, look at the catering menu — the chicken salad bowls that serve 10–12 are better value again.
