Chicken Salad Chick sells both eGift cards and physical gift cards, and the two work rather differently. Here is what each one does, where to get it, and the couple of things worth knowing before you buy one as a present.
The two types
eGift vs physical
| Type | Where to buy | Amounts | Delivery |
|---|---|---|---|
| eGift cardDigital, personalised | Official gift card portal online | Any amount, $1 to $1,000 | Email or print at home; can be scheduled for a future date |
| Physical gift cardPlastic card | In store only | Set at purchase | Handed to you at the counter |

The detail people usually want: the eGift card uses a slider for any custom amount between $1 and $1,000 rather than fixed denominations, so you are not stuck picking $25 or $50. You can also upload your own image or choose a preset design (Birthday, Thank You, Congratulations, Welcome Baby, Thinking of You).
Checking a balance and reloading
Both are handled through the official gift card portal. You need the gift card number and sometimes the security code. Existing cards can be reloaded online, which is useful if someone in the household eats here regularly.
Cards can also be added to Apple Wallet or Google Pay as a stored pass, which is the easiest way to stop losing a plastic card in a drawer.
Terms worth knowing before you buy
- All sales are final. Gift cards cannot be returned, cancelled, or redeemed for cash or credit except where the law requires it. There are no refunds.
- Resale voids the card. Cards bought from unauthorised third-party resellers can be invalidated. Buy from the official portal or in store.
- Expiration is not stated in the published terms, and no maintenance fees are mentioned. We could not confirm either way, so we are not going to tell you they never expire.
- Buying a gift card does not earn loyalty points. Points accrue when the card is spent, not when it is bought. And dollar-off Craving Credits rewards cannot be used to buy gift cards.
Watch out for “gift card alternatives”
Third-party sites such as Giftly sell what they describe as a gift card alternative — it sends money with a suggestion to spend it at Chicken Salad Chick. That is not a real Chicken Salad Chick gift card and will not work like one at the register. If you want an actual gift card, use the official portal or buy a physical card in store.
Can you buy them at Kroger, Walmart or Target?
We searched and found no evidence Chicken Salad Chick gift cards are sold at Target, and no confirmation for other supermarket gift card racks either. Assume the official portal and in-store purchase are your options unless you physically see one on a rack.
Can gift cards be used for catering?
Honestly: we could not find documentation either way. Catering runs on a separate ordering system, and nothing published confirms or denies gift card acceptance there. If you are buying a card specifically to fund a catering order, ring the location or the catering centre on 1-833-MYCHICK first rather than assuming. Full catering detail on the catering guide.
The Giving Card is a different thing entirely
Do not confuse the gift card with the Giving Card, which the brand sells around the holidays. That is a $5 charitable donation, not stored value — and in return you get one app reward per month for twelve months, worth roughly $75 in total. Proceeds go to local food banks and CURE Childhood Cancer. It is typically sold from around November 11 to December 31, with the promo code needing to be entered by the 31st.
As a gift for someone who eats here regularly, the Giving Card is arguably better value than a $5 gift card by a factor of about fifteen. More on the free food days and promotions page.
Frequently asked questions
Does Chicken Salad Chick sell gift cards?
Yes — eGift cards through the official online gift card portal, in any amount from $1 to $1,000, and physical plastic cards in store. The physical cards are in-store purchase only.
How do I check my Chicken Salad Chick gift card balance?
Through the official gift card portal, using the card number and, where required, the security code. You can also reload an existing card there, and add it to Apple Wallet or Google Pay.
Do Chicken Salad Chick gift cards expire?
The published terms do not state an expiration date and mention no maintenance fees — but absence of a stated expiry is not the same as confirmation that none exists. We could not verify it either way, so use it rather than sitting on it.
Can I use a gift card for catering?
Not documented either way. Catering runs on a separate ordering system. If that is your plan, call the location or the catering centre on 1-833-MYCHICK before buying.
Do I earn rewards points for buying a gift card?
No. Points are earned when the card is spent, not when it is purchased. Dollar-off Craving Credits rewards also cannot be applied to gift card purchases.
